Mid-Atlantic Hiking Group Legal Disclaimer and Liability Information Release of Responsibility During a hiking trip, everyone is responsible for themselves. The volunteer hike leaders are not responsible for the safety of the participants. We will try our best to prevent accidents, but we are not responsible or liable if something happens to you. By joining the group, you acknowledge this. Never leave the group without letting the leader or sweeper know for ANY reason. This is the number ONE reason why hikers get lost when hiking with a group. If “nature calls” while on a hike, let the leader or sweeper know and we will provide you with as much privacy as possible while you go in the woods. This is a serious matter folks! Safety is our first priority and emergencies can and do happen. Additional Disclaimer: During a hiking trip, everyone is responsible for themselves. The organizer is not responsible for the safety of the participants. We will try our best to prevent accidents, but are not responsible or liable if something happens to you. By joining Mid-Atlantic Hiking Group, you acknowledge this. Never leave the group without letting the leader or sweeper know for ANY reason, period. This is the number ONE reason why hikers get lost when hiking with a group. Not even to go to the “bathroom”. When “nature calls” you while on a hike, notify the leader or sweeper. You will be happy to know that as often as our budget allows, many leaders have some basic “creature comforts/niceties” to assist you with having to go in the woods. These basics often include biodegradable moist wipes, trail friendly TP, hand sanitizer, and a small “shovel” for reasons that should be self explanatory. Not notifying a leader or sweeper that you are leaving the trail WILL result in removal from our group. This is a serious matter folks! If you find it too embarrassing to let a leader or sweeper know when “nature calls”, then you either need to hold it until we reach a privy/bathroom or not go hiking with us because safety must always come first. Even though we hike as a group, it is always a good idea to tell someone about your hike beforehand — when you plan to leave and return, and where you plan to explore. This way if you ever happen to become lost, searchers know where to look for you. We encourage you to always use the buddy system or hike in a group such as ours. Emergencies can and do happen!
