Gambrill State Park - Trail System Parking Area We meet in the lot for the Gambrill State Park Trail System parking area. GPS Coordinates: 39.46232, -77.49120 Physical Address: 8602 Gambrill Park Road Frederick MD 21701 Note: This is the closest address for the parking lot. Another idea is to use the intersection of Nethers Rd and River Song Ln. Driving Directions: From the Capital Beltway: From the Capital Beltway, drive north on I-270 to I-70 west. In 2.5 miles, exit onto Alternate US 40 west. At the top of the hill, turn right only Ridge Road, which ends at US 40. Turn right (east) onto US 40. In 1 mile turn left (north) onto Gambrill Park Road (staying right at the fork to Rock Run Area). In 1.2 miles turn right into the trail system parking area. From U.S. 70: Exit onto U.S. Route 40 at Frederick. Travel approximately six miles. Turn right onto Gambrill Park Road and follow it approximately one mile to the park entrance. Continue on Gambrill Park Road to reach the trail parking lot. The Trailhead Parking Lot is on the East side of Gambrill Park Road which is about half-way up the mountain between the Rock Run area and the High Knob area, on the Right side of the road and is marked by a wooden sign reading GAMBRILL STATE PARK TRAIL SYSTEM PARKING LOT. From US 15 in Frederick: Take exit 13B off US15 onto US40/West Patrick Street. Outside city limits, US40 becomes Baltimore Pike. In 6 miles, turn right onto Gambrill Park Road. Cross over Shookstown Road, pass the Rock Run Area on the left, and, in 1.2 miles from US40, turn right into the trail parking lot, marked by a wooden sign reading GAMBRILL STATE PARK TRAIL SYSTEM PARKING LOT Public Transportation: There is no public transportation to, or in, Gambrill State Park. NOTE: Please remember to take the leader(s) number(s) with you but please respect the fact that we are all volunteers and there is often no cell coverage at trailheads and varies according to service provider. If you call very close to hike time, please understand that we are very busy with pre-hike preparations for ourselves in addition to group sign in, pre-hike briefing, and then leading the hike. It is also very difficult to provide instructions to someone while following them too, hence providing very detailed directions on this separate page. Leaders are advised to not answer phones once a hike is started so we don't miss a turn on the trail due to the distraction of a call. Thank you for your understanding and see you there!
